I made a logo for a cool independent film studio from Washington DC — Yumeji House Pictures (@yumejihousepictures).
Chelsie and Cory came to me with a task to create a logo based on my illustrations from the project about Japanese monsters, yokai. We were looking for a feminine image that would be strange and a bit eerie.
The logo draws inspiration from old-school Japanese posters and vintage advertising. I’ve preserved the rough paper-cut design effect and retro typography for an authentic feel.
Just like Japanese supernatural creatures, many of which can transform, our logo also has the ability to morph. It could feature a series of creatures with the same head, starting with a scorpion and a snake.
